Most software project problems do not start in the code. They start before it: an unclear scope, a cost estimated in a hurry, assumptions nobody wrote down. That is why every project at RUKN TECH begins with a written technical and financial study, before any programming.
01What the study answers
The study is not a huge document. It is specific answers to the questions that decide a project's fate:
- What is the scope? What gets built in the first release and what is deliberately postponed.
- Which technologies? And why these choices suit the project and its team, not because they are fashionable.
- What is the timeline? Split into phases, not a single number at the end of the road.
- What is the cost? Also split by phase, so you know the figure before you commit to anything.
- What are the risks and alternatives? And what we will do if one of the assumptions does not hold.
02Why it comes before building
Writing decisions down before building exposes conflicts while they are cheap. Changing a sentence in a document costs nothing; changing a system's structure after weeks of work costs time and money.
03Then we build stone by stone
Once the study is approved we split the work into small weekly releases, each one testable. You see the project rise instead of waiting for a distant finish, and you can change direction early because everything is written and ordered.
04The takeaway
A written study is not a delay to starting. It is the shortest path to a project that does not surprise you. If you have an idea, start with one question: what do we build first, what will it cost, and when?
